I did not study in English medium school and at that time there was no provision for nursery. We were admitted directly to 1st standard. I missed the rhymes like –‘Twinkle twinkle little star.’ We were taught prayers like – “हे प्रभो आनंद दाता ज्ञान हमको दीजिये”
What we do today has powerful impact on future. This is revealed when I compare the past and present
“Ba.. ba .. black sheep..”
I heard it first time when my daughter was planted in nursery, but this rhyme started revealing its new meaning when my grand daughter also started reciting it.
Baa … baa .. !
Such a powerful verse! Its power can be understood by merely reciting it. You can practice this and you can become just like the ‘King of Bollywood’. You need not bother about anything else.
Black sheep, have you any wool?
In earlier days only white sheep used to grow wool on them, but thanks to the policies of past governments policies; now, wool can grow on black sheep as well! This rhyme being old, the black sheep is asked to confirm:
“Have you any wool?”
In days to come, in spite sacrificing rhythm and poetic elements, it will be opposite –BaAa… baAa ..! White sheep! Have you any wool?
Yes, Sir!
Today lots of black and white sheep are waiting to be shaved. Their parents are also in the queue, willingly to part with their wool and all the bags are waiting in warehouse for filling.
I recall my old association with NCC. I was selected as the ‘Best Cadet’ and on the eve of Republic day I was awarded by the Director. After completing the rituals I was handed over one envelop which was supposed to contain a National Saving Certificate worth ` 5. (I came to know about this thing after 20 years). Envelop contained nothing, it was empty and I was promised by the faculty-in-charge that it will be given to me afterwards because he forgot to bring it from home. It was never given. It was perhaps small effort to collect some wool from a prospective sheep. In due course of time the faculty went on collecting wool from every sheep he met. This was enough to start a wool shop.
Now many of the faculty members of this type are well spread and are busy in collecting wool indiscriminately for their institutions after keeping their share.
Three bags full! One for the master, one for the dame and for the little girl – every bit of wool is beneficial for all ‘unconcerned’! Every body is busy in collecting wool; I wonder why this sheep is so rich in growing wool? Perhaps the day has arrived that the sheep is feeling the pinch, no more wool only skin!
